Job description

Start: October 2024 for 7-10 months

About Us:

As the world's pioneer of offshore floating solar, Oceans of Energy is at the forefront of offshore renewable energy solutions, committed to advancing abundant and clean electricity. At OOE we take pride in our tireless approach to environmental and sustainability research to minimize our environmental impact and footprint. This responsibility goes beyond simply the operational phase of the technology but encompasses the entire supply chain of what will become an important future energy source.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated, independent and organized intern to join our Environment Ecology and Sustainability department for an internship starting preferably in the fall of 2024. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in conducting a prospective cradle to grave life cycle assessment (LCA) of large scale offshore solar. The student will work in close collaboration with team members but also with EU research partners, with whom we are involved in an EU-Horizon project with a joint LCA scope. The goal of the student project is to incorporate the various LCA research parts carried out by partners (on PV components, on floater components, on mooring components), into one LCA. This project is an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in the renewable energy sector and contribute to the development of a novel sustainable energy technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Update and build on previous LCA research
  • Assess how various (end-of-life) scenarios influence life cycle impacts.
  • Report findings and recommendations that inform our approach to designing and deploying our technology to minimize life cycle impacts.

What We Offer:

  • A friendly and supportive work environment with many opportunities to develop new skills and gain professional experience.
  • Opportunities to help our team perform hands-on work in the field.
  • A young, motivated and dynamic team, at the cutting edge of offshore renewable energy technologies.
  • Access to an international network of knowledge and expertise as part of a Horizon Europe Consortium
  • We believe that Learning is Key. This means that there are plenty of chances for you to learn and grow at our scale-up.
  • Internship and travel allowance, laptop, desk in our office in Sassenheim (train station 10 min away, minimum of 3-4 days a week in the office necessary)
  • We also often arrange (voluntary) extra curriculum events, such as sailing events, campsites, BBQ’s, Xmas party and of course Friday afternoon drinks.

How to Apply:

Interested candidates are invited to submit the following documents to HR@oceansofenergy.blue:

  • A current resume or CV.
  • A cover letter outlining your interest in the position and relevant qualifications.

Join us in driving forward the offshore renewable energy transition! We look forward to welcoming a dedicated intern who shares our vision for a clean and abundant energy future.
